About Me

Dr. Ayesha Mecci Rahman was born and raised in Northern Ontario, Canada.  She received her Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Waterloo in Southern Ontario and her Doctor of Optometry Degree from Indiana University School of Optometry in Bloomington, Indiana.

She has been practicing with Virginia Ophthalmology Associates since 1999 and is a member of the local chapter of the Virginia Optometric and American Optometric Associations.

Dr. Rahman performs routine and diabetic eye exams which include the dilation of the eye.  She specializes in contact lens fittings, including multifocal contacts and contacts for high astigmatism.  She also fits Rigid Gas Permeable and Scleral lenses for patients diagnosed with irregularly shaped corneas due to keratoconus and ocular surface disease, as well as post surgical corneas.

Dr. Rahman is an adjunct faculty member who helps train students from the Eastern Virginia Medical School and Old Dominion University’s Ophthalmic Technology program.  Her passion for educating others is also evident in her office, where numerous high school students continue to shadow Dr. Rahman to gain a better perspective of optometry.

Dr. Rahman lives in Virginia Beach with her husband and two children.  She enjoys volunteering at her childrens school, helping out as an assistant volleyball coach and sports team parent, and educating area elementary students and Scout troops about the eye and eye safety.
